What Rebates Does Southern California Gas Offer in 2026?
As of October 14, 2026, SoCalGas lists rebates on ten kinds of natural gas equipment, from $70 for a dryer to $2,500 to $5,000 for a solar thermal water heating system. Funds run until December 31, 2026 or until they are used up.

How Long Does It Take to Get a Rebate From Southern California Gas?
Six to eight weeks once all program requirements are met, according to SoCalGas's rebates page. Applications selected for verification can take longer.
Payment comes from Choice Digital Corporation, a disbursement processor working for SoCalGas, and may be issued as a digital or physical prepaid Visa or Mastercard. To follow an application, use the status check tool on the Rebates & Incentives page; it asks for the enrollment number you got after applying. SoCalGas's 2026 application says the company uses email for formal communication, so give an address you read.
Can I Get a Southern California Gas Rebate at Checkout?
Yes, for some appliances. On the SoCalGas Marketplace, an eligible instant rebate is already taken off the price once you confirm you're a SoCalGas customer.
The Marketplace is operated by Enervee, a third party, and its own terms apply. SoCalGas's 2026 application says a product that got an instant markdown at the point of sale doesn't also qualify for the online or mail-in rebate. For an appliance you already bought, there are two other routes:
- Online: pick the appliance in the table on SoCalGas's rebates page and upload a photo of the receipt and of the model tag.
- By mail: the 2026 rebate application must be postmarked by December 31, 2026, and goes to SoCalGas, 2026 Home Energy Efficiency Rebate Program, P.O. Box 512670, Los Angeles, CA 90051-0670.
The application warns that incomplete applications can't be processed, and a resubmitted one goes back in line from its new receipt date. The solar thermal system has its own mail-in application.
Does Southern California Gas Offer a 20% Bill Discount?
Yes. Its CARE program may take 20% off the monthly natural gas bill for households in listed assistance programs or within its income limits.
SoCalGas's CARE page says the online application takes a few minutes and needs no documents up front. Enrollment in Medi-Cal, CalFresh, WIC, SSI, LIHEAP or another listed program qualifies. Otherwise these income limits apply:

The gas bill must be in your name at your primary address, and you can't be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return other than your spouse's.
Can I Get Free Upgrades From Southern California Gas?
Yes, through Energy Savings Assistance. Income-qualified owners and renters may get energy-saving home improvements from an authorized contractor at no cost.
SoCalGas's Energy Savings Assistance page lists improvements that may include attic insulation, a high-efficiency clothes washer, a water heater blanket and pipe insulation, low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators, furnace duct sealing and a smart fan controller. Furnace replacement is for owner-occupied homes only. Repair or replacement of a furnace or tankless water heater may be available to eligible homeowners when the existing gas unit is inoperable or hazardous. In a rented home, the contractor may need the property owner's permission for some items.
The income limit, from June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027, is $39,900 for one person and $82,500 for four, or you can qualify through a listed assistance program. Call 1-800-331-7593 or use SoCalGas's online interest form.
What Extra Rebates Do 2025 Wildfire Areas Get?
Customers in listed ZIP codes affected by the 2025 Southern California wildfires may get rebates up to 50% higher, plus rebates only they can claim.
The 2026 application lists the eligible ZIP codes for eight fires, including Palisades, Eaton and Hurst. Those customers can also claim a $75 smart thermostat rebate and per-square-foot attic and wall insulation rebates; the insulation must go in a home with a natural gas furnace. Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Combine Southern California Gas Rebates With My Electric Utility's Rebates?
Sometimes. SoCalGas's 2026 application says local electric and water utilities may also offer rebates, and in some cases they may be combined with SoCalGas rebates. The same application says you can't get a rebate for the same product from more than one California investor-owned utility or ratepayer-funded efficiency program. Check the other utility's rules before buying.
How Much Is the Southern California Gas Furnace Rebate?
SoCalGas's rebate table lists $1.40 to $25 per kBTUh for an ENERGY STAR certified furnace with an AFUE of 92% or higher, as of October 14, 2026. It must be installed by a licensed contractor with proof of permit closure, one per household.
Did the federal tax credit for gas appliances end?
