Checked against PG&E's program site (evrebates.pge.com) and the program Terms and Conditions on September 28, 2026. Funds are limited and first-come, first-served, and PG&E can end the program at any time, so confirm on PG&E's site before you rely on it.

The key date

To get the $1,000 Standard rebate, a complete application must be submitted by November 11, 2026. Starting November 12, 2026, only income-qualified customers can get a rebate: the $4,000 Rebate Plus.

How much

  • Standard: $1,000. No income test.
  • Rebate Plus: $4,000 for income-qualified households.
  • Both are fixed amounts, and the vehicle's purchase price must be at least the rebate: $1,000 or more for Standard, $4,000 or more for Rebate Plus.

Who qualifies

  • You're a PG&E customer with an active residential electric service agreement in PG&E's service area. The name on the PG&E account does not have to be yours.
  • You bought or leased a used battery-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle with a battery of at least 8 kWh.
  • The vehicle was fully registered to a previous owner before you bought or leased it. A dealer demo, rollback or unwind that was never fully registered doesn't count.
  • Fuel cell and compressed natural gas vehicles, electric bikes, electric motorcycles, electric scooters and neighborhood vehicles are not eligible.
  • It's registered in your own name in California. A vehicle registered only to a business is not eligible.
  • You keep it registered in California for at least 20 consecutive months after the purchase or lease date.
  • If two people are on the registration, one of you applies.
  • One rebate per person over the life of the program. A household with several eligible vehicles can receive up to three.
  • You're not eligible for a vehicle if you (or a co-owner or co-lessee) already received a California Clean Fuel Reward, the SCE Pre-Owned EV Rebate or the SDG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate for that same vehicle.

Deadlines

  • After you buy, not before. You can't start an application until you've bought or leased the vehicle and have it.
  • 90 days. Submit within 90 days of the purchase or lease date.
  • 60 days once started. After you start an application, you have 60 days, or whatever is left of the 90, whichever is shorter, to submit it with all documents.
  • November 11, 2026 is the last day for a complete Standard application.

Rebate Plus: who is income-qualified

You qualify for Rebate Plus either through enrollment in a qualifying public assistance program or with household income at or under PG&E's limit. PG&E sets the limits from California's State Income Limits and updates them every year. It publishes them only through a ZIP-code and household-size lookup on evrebates.pge.com, so check your own limit there.

Documents you'll need

Everyone:

  1. Your PG&E bill, all pages in one file, showing the account number, service agreement ID and service address.
  2. Your vehicle registration: current, in your name, at your PG&E service address.
  3. Your current California driver license. A California ID card isn't accepted.

Then, depending on how you bought it:

  • From a dealer (purchase or lease): the final, signed purchase or lease agreement, not a review copy or an unsigned one.
  • Private-party sale: a copy of the vehicle's certificate of title as issued, unsigned.
  • Private-party sale with a loan: the electronic lien title record and your loan agreement.

For Rebate Plus, add one of:

  • Through a public assistance program: your benefit letter or Notice of Action. A benefit card isn't enough.
  • Through household income: a signed IRS Form 4506-C for each adult in the household, and the household summary form.

How you apply

You, the registered owner or lessee, apply in your own name on PG&E's program portal at apply.evrebates.pge.com. A dealer or other third party can't apply for you.

DuloCore can check your situation against these rules and put your documents in order before you apply. You still submit the application yourself. Check your eligibility for the PG&E used EV rebate.
