Checked against PG&E's program page, Terms and Conditions and Sample Supporting Documents on September 24-28, 2026. Funds are limited and first-come, first-served, and the eligible equipment list can change, so confirm on PG&E's page before you buy.
How much
- The Standard option pays up to 50% of the purchase price of one product from PG&E's eligible list, after it's installed.
- "Purchase price" is what you paid for the equipment before taxes, shipping and fees, and after any discounts, as shown on your receipt.
- PG&E publishes no dollar cap for the Standard option.
- The program is funded through California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard program, not by customer dollars.
Who can use it
- You're a PG&E residential electric customer. Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) and Direct Access customers are eligible. PG&E gas-only customers who get their electricity from a municipal utility are not.
- You have a battery-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle. The owner's name and the vehicle must be registered at the service address on your PG&E residential electric account, which is also the shipping address on the equipment receipt. The name on the PG&E account doesn't have to match yours.
- A vehicle registered at an address with a commercial PG&E account isn't eligible.
- One rebate per household, counted per PG&E electric service agreement ID.
- If you took part in PG&E's earlier Residential Charging Solutions program, you can't use this one.
Standard or Rebate Plus: decide first
PG&E also has an income-qualified Rebate Plus option. It works differently: it needs pre-approval before you buy, a contractor from PG&E's Trade Ally Network does the work, and PG&E pays the contractor. PG&E describes it as up to $2,000, or up to $5,000 with a panel upgrade. We haven't verified the Rebate Plus terms ourselves, so check them with PG&E.
The order matters. If you're approved for Standard, you can't later apply for Rebate Plus, whatever your income. If you might be income-qualified, look at Rebate Plus before you buy anything.
How Standard works
- Buy and install a product from the eligible list. There's no pre-approval step, and you can't start an application before you buy.
- Apply within 180 days of the purchase date.
- PG&E asks you to allow about 10 business days to process the application. Once it's approved, the check is mailed within 5 business days, and it goes to you, the applicant. It can't be assigned to anyone else.
Eligible equipment
Only products on PG&E's list qualify, and PG&E says the list may change. As published when we checked (September 24, 2026):
- ChargePoint: Home Flex
- Emporia: Classic EV Charger, Pro EV Charger
- EVIQO: EVIPOWER Level 2 EV Charger
- Ford: Connected Charge Station, Charge Station Pro
- GM: PowerUp 2, Energy PowerShift Charger
- NeoCharge: Smart Splitter (NEMA 14-50, 6-50, 10-50, 14-30 and 10-30)
- Revitalize Charging Solutions: REV+ single or dual port
- RVE: DCC 10, DCC 12
- Siemens eMobility: Inhab Load Manager
- Tesla: Wall Connector (Gen 3), Universal Wall Connector
- Wallbox: Pulsar Plus, Power Meter
PG&E doesn't recommend any product on the list; it's up to you whether a product suits your home.
Do you need an electrician's invoice?
It depends on the electrical work, not the brand:
- Hard-wired charger: yes.
- A new dedicated 240-volt outlet was installed for a plug-in charger: yes.
- A plug-in charger on a 240-volt outlet you already had: no.
- NeoCharge Smart Splitter: no.
Skipping the invoice never means skipping the electrician. PG&E says a licensed California electrician must do all installations.
When you need it, the invoice shows the contractor's name and license number, with your name and address in the "bill to" field.
Documents you'll need
- Your current DMV registration card for the vehicle, at your PG&E service address. PG&E doesn't accept a DMV change-of-address form in place of a current registration. If you submit a temporary registration, unfold it so all edges of the document show.
- The equipment purchase receipt, showing the vendor, your name, your shipping address, the purchase date, the price and the model.
- A photo of the installed equipment, mounted, wired or plugged in.
- A close-up photo of the serial number, sharp enough to read every character. For Ford chargers PG&E asks for the Charger ID, and for the Siemens Inhab the Production Date Code.
- The electrician's invoice, if the rules above say you need one.
Have everything ready before you start. PG&E's portal makes you finish the whole application, including uploads, in one session.
After you're approved
If you take part in this program, you can't later take part in PG&E's Affordable Public Charging program.
How DuloCore helps
We check your situation against these rules, tell you whether you need the invoice, and put your documents in order. You still submit the application yourself on PG&E's portal. Check your eligibility for the PG&E charger rebate.
Bought a used EV?
PG&E's Pre-Owned EV Rebate is a separate program with its own deadline. See the PG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate and its November 11 deadline.
